Born and brought up in Bootle in 1993, Greenwood had set her eyes on her dream to be a footballer from a very early age. She began training at the young age of 6 at Everton Football Club’s youth academy. She took weekly training sessions at Netherton. During her training, she played for local junior teams. Alex Greenwood Injury

Alex Greenwood’s career has not been without her fair share of injuries. As a key defence player, she has two significant injuries on the field. Her first injury happened in August of 2023. It was during the World Cup final that Greenwood suffered a blow to her face. The Lioness player had an aerial clash with Spain’s Salma Paralluelo. Greenwood took Paralluelo’s knee to her face. Greenwood got a deep cut from the clash, right beneath her right eyebrow. Further, there was also swelling in her face, which resulted in 13 minutes of injury time. However, Greenwood did not let this injury stop her from playing. Instead, she finished the match against Spain. Unfortunately, her team lost 0-1. 

Her newest injury happened in December 2024, during a Champions League match. During the match against St Polten, she suffered from a knee injury. She was seen in discomfort and was later stretched off mid-game. It was later revealed that she suffered from an MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) tear.  While the club did not give a recovery period for the injury, the athlete was back in action by April 2025.
